 We are proud to host  the 1st Annual Heiva I
Utah, a Tahitian Solo Dance Competition for all ages. This competition was
established to continue to perpetuate our Tahitian Culture 'Ori and Orero
through dancing and music. 
 
The Heiva I Utah is dedicated to the Polynesian communities in Utah that have 
formed a passion in Tahitian Dancing, which has proven to be a positive 
alternative for our striving youth of Utah.  Our goal intended is to 
provide a means of expressing, promoting, and preserving our unique and valuable 
customs, traditions, and heritage.  The 1st Annual Heiva I Utah is a 
friendly Dance Competition featuring the youth of our Utah communities, ages 3 
and up.  Our Heiva will offer learning experiences through Cultural 
Workshops, Crafts, Food, and Social Interaction with other groups and 
partcipants.

This event will take place
Saturday, April   14, 2012 
 Time:  4 :00 pm- 10:00 pm
Location:  The  Miller Business  Resource Center
(Karen Gail Miller Conference Center) @ Salt Lake Community College

Heiva I Utah is a cultural organization founded for the purpose of preserving, promoting, and sharing the cultures, arts & crafts of the 5 groups of Islands of French Polynesia, commonly known to the world as "Tahiti".

In accomplishing this, we will:

Organize and hold a annual or periodic cultural educational events such as but not limited to Heiva, art festivals, competitive sports, dance and music workshop, language, varieties of lectures and other unique and profound aspects of the culture, history, and people of Tahiti.

Provide the opportunity to all particpate in these events, regardless of their color, race, gender, age or religion, in order that they may learn, appreciate , preserve, and share any or all aspects of this magnificent culture.
