Mission
TeHamata portrays the islands of Polynesia through music and dance. We are continually striving to give our youth a positive outlet that builds character and pride in our culture. We feel that as our youth actively participate in the promotion and perpetuation of the traditional cultures, languages, attitudes and values of Polynesia they will reach their full potential.
Our History
TeHamata was created in Laie, HI in 2002 by Penny Toilolo and Lono Hanohano. Since 2002, TeHamata has entered multiple Tahitian competitions on the islands of Kauai, Oahu and Hawaii. They have also competed in Tahitian competitions in Las Vegas, NV and Salt Lake City, UT. Our TeHamata production team traveled to the islands of Tonga, Samoa & Tahiti and also toured the continental United States. In 2006, TeHamata branched out to Utah under the direction of Penny's sister Juaul Aukusitino.
